KNOT IS THE HARDEST

Are there any do over's in life something that you can't fix, can't take back. Something that you can't hit the pause button on. It's those things you replay in your mind hoping the ref will let you take back the shot or at least call it in your favor.

It's these things that keep you awake in the quite, still hours of the night. That's why so many people fill their lives with work, sports, entertainment, because we fear the quite time. Probably nothing that really matters in life can be done over.

It's those things that can't be fixed when broken that all involve people. People are very easy to break and equally hard to fix. There is no do over's there is only forgiveness or not, and as hard as forgiveness is. The knot is even harder.

I read in Men's Journal Magazine July 2018 issue that forgiveness was a little known and less used super power. Let's get a second opinion. I think I read the same thing in the original men's journal it's called the Bible.

I can't recall which issue it was a while back, I believe it was the King James.

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked. "Lord how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me ? Up to seven times ?" Jesus answered," I tell you not seven but seventy times seven."Matthew 18:21-22

" Judge not and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned forgive, and ye shall be forgiven." Luke 6:37

Not only is forgiveness a super power that works on both parties at one time, as difficult as forgiveness is,  knot is harder and downright disastrous.

5 Free Healthy Habits

We are now half way thru the year seems like a good time to revisit your new years health resolutions. Don't wait 6 more months do it now. I have nothing to say that you don't already know.

Just a friendly reminder that good health doesn't have to be expensive, hard, or time consuming. It can be a way of life. Here are a few examples.

I won't go into great detail there are many excellent websites, blogs, and You Tube channels that cover each topic as I said just a reminder. Here we go.

1 - FASTING remember I said FREE not FUN. Fasting for health has a long history. It comes in many forms usually based on length of fast and usually promoting weight - loss but not always. Common fast are Intermittent fasting, that consist of eating everyday in a 8-12 hr. restricted window.

Alternate day fasting, eating normal on day one then on day two eating 25% of your regular calories. Repeat as needed. Lastly there's water fasting where you guessed it you consume mostly water usually for 3-5 days. They all work, find the one that suits your health goals.

2 - BREATHING- You say "I got this " been doing it 20,000 times a day since birth, but are you doing it correctly. Just as in fasting there are many variations often combined with meditation. I prefer the Wim Hof  AKA (The Ice Man) method of breathing you may of heard of him because of his extreme cold weather feats setting many world records.

Wim has been healing mind and body through breathing and will show you how. Wim Hof .com
I am a big fan of his cold shower techniques don't knock it till you try it. It works.

3 - STRETCHING- Whatever your - ing - is hiking, running, biking, kayaking, hunting, and fishing. Lets not forget every ones least favorite working. Stretching is the best way to start the day. Call it Yoga call it Pilates call, but do it. It's not glamorous but it pays dividends in the long run.

4 - SLEEPING - We've all heard it we'll sleep when we're died. The truth is the less sleep you get now the sooner your going to find out. So unless your in a hurry let's ere on the side of caution and get more sleep now. I highly recommend a book ( Why we Sleep).

5 - INSPIRE the SPIRIT - Could be music or a positive message in a podcast like a TEDX talk. Could be your favorite preacher, books on tape on a long road trip or go old school and read to yourself. Better yet the most effective way to inspire the spirit, PRAY.

6 - A bonus for you multi- taskers you can combine all of these into one action excluding sleep of course. Honesty I think the whole idea is to calm the over achiever in you showing you it's not only Ok to recharge slowly, but more beneficial than getting a jumpstart by doing to much at one time. Ultimately destroying the thing we're trying to save !

LOG CABIN LAMENT

Thanks to the fine folks from the Forest Heritage Center in Beavers Bend State Park Hochatown Oklahoma. Who had the foresight and went to the pains to dismantle, label, move, and reconstruct at their facility this homesteaders log cabin we would not have this piece of living history.

There is no photographs no written records, all that is known is it came from bethel  Okla. and was thought to be about 120 yrs. old. That's all we know the rest we'll have to imagine. Based on it's age the family that built it could have came to Oklahoma in the Land Rush of 1889 like so many others looking for a fresh start in a new country.

Where they combined their imagination with a desire for a better way of life, lured by the hope of owning and working your own place. Even if it killed them at least they then were buried on their own land.

Once again judging by it's age and location they lived there through the 1930 depression, possibly cutting railroad ties by hand as was the custom for cash money. Selling for .42 cents ea. in 1913 the price dropping to .25 cents ea. and finally to .15 cents ea. as the depression deepened.

We are only supposing, but the fact is somebody did a whole lot of hard work building that cabin. I doubt they had a plan other than to stay warm and dry. With a few tools and only the north wind encouraging them to get done by winter.

No YouTube to consult and probably couldn't read or write anyway. Fast forward 120 yrs. I build a cabin right down the road just a little bit bigger. Using modern practices and tools and I doubt mine will be in a museum 100 yrs. from now.

Makes me wonder for all my activity I'm really going in the right direction.
